Basketball Donations Needed

If you've already read The Dream you're already familiar with the story of Basketball in Ouake, Benin. If the story is to continue however, the children of Ouake need your help. Lack of equipment is the only obstacle for these children's hoop dreams and you can be a part of the solution. Please donate your old basketball to the children of Ouake.

Basket!"I left the village today and yesterday a few more things were finished....I wasright to have a dream and right to force it to follow itself to the end."

7/13/00 The director came to my house at eight o'clock in the morning to tell me that the sous-prefet and the mayor were calling Marissa and me to lunch at noon and he didn't make it sound optional.

PCV Santa O'KeefeSean O'Keefe is a Peace Corps volunteer stationed in Ouake in Benin, West Africa. He writes his journal on notebook paper by lantern light and sends the handwritten text, along with film, to his mother in North Carolina. She types his text and has his film developed and then sends them electronically to friends at The Edcomm Group Advanced Design Center in Fort Washington, PA. where staff designed and maintain the website. Hosting services and technical support have also been donated by The Edcomm Group.

The DreamMy idea is simple and complicated at the same time ... to construct a full-scale basketball court in the village where I will live and work for two years.

The dream has become reality! Read All About It!

Going through the mail that had accumulated in Cotonou I learned from a recent letter that my mother had secured five basketballs care of the Charlotte Hornets, and some nets from N.C. State University.

Thanks!

StoriesAn odd thing happened last night and incredibly it's not the first time. The first time was about two weeks ago and then it didn't seem odd but actually kind of scary.

Journal7/3/00 Now I'm definitely into the final stretch, to the point where I can see the end but despite my proximity to it I still don't know how it will all shake out. The Peace Corps hasn't made it clear what they intend to do with us in Ouake
